RunStorrs is more than a running club. Many of our members enjoy participating in Duathlons and Triathlons.
Try a Tri!
Triathlons require ability in swimming, biking and
running. Without a confident swimming ability open water races can be intimidating if not dangerous.
Triathlons are a fun way to achieve a good balance in cross training. It will help to round out
your running program, especially off-season. Unlike running, equipment is required including: swim
goggles, a bike and helmet and wetsuit if the water is too cold. Triathlons also require management to
achieve the best transition times. Swimming is first with a transition as you dry off and mount your bike.
Then you will leave your bike and proceed to run. These transitions T-1 and T-2 also make for interesting
training, especially moving from biking to the run. Some have noted that their first tri was an experience
at T-2 that made them recollect the last 6 miles of a marathon. Triathlons come in many distances
including Ironmans, Half Ironmans, Olympic distance
and a variety of sprint distances. Go to Links for Connecticut Triathlons.
